*this is better but you still were spot on.

Aplicarse a, when referring to studies, professions, work and stuff it's a set phrase that means "to put effort into" and you'll have to learn it. General statements are done in the 3rd person. "Se nota" => "People can notice"; in English "you can notice".

For instance, if I took you to a cliff I wouldn't say "Puedes hasta la ultramar", "You can see even overseas". I would say "Se puede ver hasta la ultramar". Don't ask why this is so xD
