    Mysteries of New York City!

Tips and Tricks for New York
New York is now accessible from the North Sparkling Terraces in the Beijing area and from West Misty Land in the Florapolis area.

Roberta in the Jersey Trails starts the main New York quest line. Be sure to do those quests first! You may have trouble if you start the other ones first.

Also, be sure to regularly upgrade your sparkler!

How to upgrade your cheer sparkler:
Only the New York Sparklers and the Curious Sparklers upgrade. If you hover your mouse over your sparkler, in the orange it will tell you what type of Happy Vibe and how many you need to level your sparkler to the next level.
For example, To level your New York Sparkler Lv. 1 to Lv. 2 you need 10 Tiny Happy Vibes. Unequip your NY Sparkler (make sure it's in your inventory) and then right click it. You will get a message, do NOT hit OK yet! Next right click your 10 Tiny Happy Vibes (or whatever vibes you need to upgrade) then hit OK twice and you'll have a Lv. 2 sparkler!
    • Be sure NOT to throw away any vibes you get! After you max out your New York Sparkler, you'll be given a Curious Sparkler which you will need to level up all over again.
    • Most of the penguin enemies in New York will not attack you the exception being the Penguinos near the sea. All the enemies in the Abandoned Bronx Tunnels will attack you. All enemies in the buildings of New York (e.g. Yankee Stadium) will attack you.
    • There are currently 5 hidden quests available
    • The Mayor Attacks! - Be sure to bring food with you when you do the Time Out! quest
    • You can hit the Sea Creature with your friends if you equip an Apple or Berrynose Sparkler. It drops 50 Tokens.
    • For a fast way to get Zappy Cells, fight the Blondies after you've done the Shampoo quest.
Amount of Happy Vibes Needed for both the New York and Curious Sparklers:
    Total Amount in (parenthesis)
    • 75x2 Tiny Happy Vibes (150)
    • 240x2 Small Happy Vibes (480)
    • 405x2 Medium Happy Vibes (810)
    • 610x2 Big Happy Vibes (1,220)
    • 540x2 Giant Happy Vibes (1,080)

A relatively fast way to get Props/Shoeshine/Paper Cups/Moustache Gel
You must have food for this! Lots of food. These monsters will drop the quest items much faster than the ones prowling around New York. They will hit you back, but the items are a common drop. However, you CANNOT fight these guys with a regular New York Sparkler/Curious Sparkler. You need the appropriate timed wand which you can get in the Abandoned Bronx Tunnels.
    • Waddle: Wreck Righter Sparkler (Timed!)
    • Vinny: Vex Vanish Sparkler (Timed!)
    • Hobbes: Huffy Heartwarmer Sparkler (Timed!)
    • Oswald: Offput Offloading Sparkler (Timed!)
With these sparklers you will be able to really hurt the penguins inside the buildings. If you do not have them it will take you a good couple of minutes to actually kill it (and remember these guys will attack you), so it's a big waste of food. Get the appropriate sparkler (Wreck Righter Sparkler to fight the Wrecker Waddles, Vex Vanish Sparkler to fight the Vexed Vinnys, etc.) and then run back to New York into the buildings and cheer away!

Capsule Machine <-- click on the link to see a list of items you can get from the capsule machine!
The capsule machine is in Pochi's Pizza Parlour. You will get this key during Sayuri's Penguino quest line. The capsule machine requires tokens to use.

    How/where to get tokens:
    • The penguins inside New York buildings drop them
    • Cheer up the Penguino's boat (with the Boat Buster Sparkler)
    • Inside Pochi's Pizza Parlour there is a daily quest for 50 tokens
    • You can hit the Sea Creature with your friends if you equip an Apple or Berrynose Sparkler. It drops 50 Tokens.
    • The Magic Ice (in the sea of New York) drop 1 Token

Hidden Quest 01: Pile o' Junk Locations
See this page. Please note that these will NOT stack. You need 10 inventory spaces to collect all 10 Pieces o' Junk. Right click on each of the pieces to combine them into a Hunk o' Junk. Right clicking this will then give you a quest to do.

Hidden Quest 02: New Jersey's Spirit
Combine 12 Sparkler Gadgetry and 7 Handle Piece to form Rebuilt Handle and Rebuilt Sparkler Head. Combine those to from New Jersey's Spirit (Powered Down). This quest is bugged too.

    Hidden Quest 03: Jersey Ginseng
This is a rare drop from the Jersey Ginseng. It will give you something to sell for $2,000.

Hidden Quest 04: Scout's Lost Chew Toy
Strange Pile in the Bronx Outskirts will drop this.

Hidden Quest 05: Statue of Liberty Outfit
After you've done the Time Out! quest and cheered up the Mayor. Return to him once your New York Sparkler is level 15 and cheer him up again. You'll get a Curious Sparkler (Powered Down) which will start a quest. Be aware: If you accept this quest you will start all over with a level 1 sparkler.

    Known Bugs
    • The Saving New York quest is the start point for a series of sub-quests, each sub-quest rewarding one of the require essences. If the player does not have sufficient inventory room to receive the essence, the player will not receive the essence, and quest will mark as completed, thus stalling the player and requiring GM intervention.
    • A key is needed to enter Pochi's Pizza Parlor, but a key is not added the collection
    • The Bangin' Boombox Character Info display makes the item appear invisible. If you PM another player with this equipped, they will also not be able to see your character.
    • New Jersey's Spirit (Powered Down) has several issues. If a player built the wand prior to the .4 update, they are able to accept the quest, the reward is a New Jersey Spirit, but the player does not receive this reward. Players who built their powered down version after the .4 update are still not able to activate the quest.

A small bug I have noticed: the Colorful Dreadlocks hair does not show up on the character profile or the PM pictures if the character is wearing the white fedora from the New York token machine. It makes the character look bald, which is pretty funny, especially if the character is female. The hair IS visible on the onscreen character.

Conversely, all of the hats available from the token machine look great on the profile and PM character, but do not fit properly on the onscreen character if the character is wearing some of the other IM purchased hairstyles. Even hairstyles that look like they would easily fit under a mesh cap, fishing hat or fedora stick out around the sides and top of the hat.

One can use the forging guides sold by the New York Merchant to convert Happy Vibes to Zappy Cells and to anther version of Happy Vibes
For example: Tiny Happy vibes convert to Zappy Cells then convert to Small Happy Vibes

It appears to take about two hours to respawn.

Which leads to an open request to the community: if you do not need the strange pile, please do not loot it so that others who may actually need it can loot it.

Scout's chewtoy appears to be a "common" (not 100%) drop, so you may need to try more than once.

    Hello!
I just want to ask something.
How could anybody mine from the Magic Iceberg, If there's three Penguino Baddies around it, who are attacking immediately and are unbeatable, anyway. Or If it's obviously impossible to mine from the iceberg, then why is it even there?

You can use sneaky sneakers or a Penguino Disguise to make yourself immune from those baddies temporarily. The sneakers are from HK's birthday event while the disguise drops from the penguinos.
